robotník, n. (Slovak) = worker, laborer, workman, operative, journeyman

I write American Robotnik in my spare time as an effort to get some writing practice and get my writing career off the ground. The full-time job that I have on the side does take up a lot of time, which makes for a tight after-hours schedule and severe prioritizing.

This calendar year, I got on a First Hour schedule, whereby the first hour of every work day, roughly from 6 to 7 am, I write a book. I am now editing “Guerrilla Yardwork: The First-Time Homeowner’s Handbook” which I wrote between January and July and which I am planning to release as a print-on-demand book in February 2013. I am now working on my next project.

In August I also started freelancing for two local publications. I am now getting paid for my writing (though I’m far from quitting my job). The Bee is a hyper-local newspaper that belongs to the Community Newspapers/Portland Tribune group of publications, covering the area of SE Portland where I live. Oregon Jewish Life is the state’s premier Jewish publication. You can find find my articles on my Writing portfolio page.

All that is to say American Robotnik’s priority ranking has decreased somewhat due to less time and energy (if you’re a regular reader, you may have noticed a drop in posting). American Robotnik is here to stay, however, as trimmed as it may now be.

Thank you for reading.
